It Takes Two to Tango: The Perils and Possibilities of Entrepreneurial Partnerships

Did you know that fewer than 20% of partnerships last five years?  Yes, these stats come from America, but in our experience, this isn't that far off the British experience, or indeed that of any country.

I've just read about some excellent research on partnerships - well worth a look.  Do not be mislead by the techy nature of the original date - the insights are eye-opening for any business partnership in any sector.

Among the major findings are:

  • It's the relationship between partners and not the business plan but that leads to success or failure of a partnership venture
  • It's  the interpersonal and emotional dynamics that can upset a partnership - written agreements are no protection

Strong people make as many mistakes as weak people. Difference is that strong people admit their mistakes, laugh at them, learn from them. That is how they become strong.
